We believe to have identified and resolved the cause of the degradation in performance. All myUSF/Blackboard services have been fully restored as of 6:30PM this evening.

We share your discontent and frustration with the recent unresponsiveness of the system. We have escalated the case with Blackboard Support and continue to work with them and with Oracle Support to address the causes of the problem.

Still slower than before the upgrade. I waited until late evening and am not experiencing performance as good as prior to the upgrade. I have created yahoo groups for my classes to be able to communicate with them more easily. One thing I have found helpful is to go to other Boards like this for other universities where they address specific issues (like alphabetization).
This is like going to a class room building and finding it locked.
Ever hopeful that tomorrow will be better.

Given that distance learners rely entirely on a well functioning Black Board not only for in class learning, but also for timely communication of assignments, I can only say that the previous version of Black Board worked very well and I personally would have preferred it not being tampered with.

Since we are now an i-tunes university I have been getting to know how to use the iPod. To my chagrin (I am a librarian) –I found that when it alphabetizes titles it includes all the albums that begin with “A” or “The” together. First BlackBoard ignores last name first in the discussion board author function; THEN I discover the iPod alphabetizes articles. What next? Is there no respect for the alphabet anymore?
And you just know they are going to split infinitives next.

The time to change pages in blackboard is terribly slow. It isn’t my internet provider because I can change pages in other programs without any problem. I am an adjunct instructor and my time requirements this term are doubled because of the time I spend waiting for a response.

It’s taken a while but we’ve finally made some significant progress getting those pages to load faster. Particular gains are made in the discussion board areas. If you notice the difference let us know.
